America is contemplating new restrictions on exports of synthetic intelligence chips to China, the Wall Road Journal reported on Tuesday, citing folks aware of the matter.
Shares of Nvidia and Superior Micro Gadgets (AMD) fell about 1.4% on the information.
Nvidia, Micron, and AMD are among the many U.S. chipmakers caught within the crossfire between China and the Biden administration.
In September, Nvidia had mentioned that U.S. officers requested the corporate to cease exporting two high computing chips for synthetic intelligence work to China.
The Commerce Division will cease the shipments of chips made by Nvidia and different chip corporations to clients in China as early as July, the report mentioned.
The Division of Commerce didn’t instantly reply to a Reuters request for remark.
The brand new curbs being mulled by the division would ban the sale of even A800 chips with no license, the report added.
